When you decide to work in Japan, you will need more money than you think.
Be sure to read carefully and prepare so you don't have to worry about money after coming to Japan!
The initial costs vary considerably between renting a rental property and renting a shared house.
Since you have to decide on a house/apartment before coming to Japan, you will not be able to see the room directly.
Since you will be living there for a long time, it would be better to live in a shared house first and save up enough money to rent a property before moving. Or you can continue staying in the shared house if you like.
Item | Properties for Rent | Share-house |

Initial cost (or deposit) *For more information This is explained in "Searching for a room in Japan" |
For example, if the rent is 50,000 yen, you will need 175,000 to 250,000 yen. If you are moving from overseas, you may need to pay advance rent in addition to the normal initial costs. |
A guarantee fee of 20,000 to 50,000 yen is required. |
Home appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens) *Used | You need to prepare everything yourself. | Minimum electrical appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and microwave ovens are shared and included in the rent. |
Bed/Futon/Curtain | You need to prepare everything yourself. | Beds are often provided. You must provide your own curtains and bedding. |
Daily necessities (pots, plates, cups, detergent, shampoo, etc.) | You need to prepare everything yourself. | Items that are shared (pots, plates, cups, kitchen detergent, toilet paper, etc.) are included in the rent, but you must provide your own consumables (shampoo, toothpaste, towels, etc.) . |

Period from contract to being able to live | About 1 months |
About 1 weeks |
Basically, you have to prepare everything by yourself, and it takes a lot of money to set up a place where you can live.
Also, you cannot move into the house immediately after applying.
After applying, there will be a screening process, and after passing the screening process, you will need to prepare and transfer the entire initial fee.
Once the transfer has been confirmed, the contract will be finalized.
It takes about a month to decide on a house, sign a contract, and actually move in.
The rent includes items for shared use.
The minimum electrical appliances (refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machine, microwave oven, etc.), bed, curtains, kitchen utensils, and shared consumables are included in the rent, so you don't need to prepare them yourself. (It depends on the property, so check what is included in the share when renting.)
The things you will need to prepare yourself will be your futon and personal consumables (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.), so there will be less preparation than if you lived in a rental property.
Electricity, gas, water, and Wi-Fi are often included in the rent, but depending on the property, you may have to pay separately, so be sure to check in advance.
The contract process is the same as for rental.
There is an inspection, but unlike rental properties, it doesn't take much time. Once you have paid the deposit and signed the contract, it will take about a week for you to decide on a house, sign the contract, and actually move in.
Basically, the wages you worked in the month you joined the company will be paid in the following month.
Therefore, you must provide your own living expenses until your first salary is paid.
You will need to prepare approximately one and a half to two months' worth of living expenses.
The pay date is stated in your employment contract, so be sure to check it.

My company won't lend me money to come to Japan.
If you rent a house, you will need to prepare about 630,000 yen, and if you rent a shared house, you will need to prepare about 200,000 yen in advance.
You may want to rent a room by yourself from the beginning, but it will cost you a lot of money.
Living in a share house is budget-friendly, and you can learn Japanese manners from the people you live with.
There are also share houses exclusively for women. If you don't have the budget, consider living in a shared house first.
