How to take out garbage

In Japan, we separate garbage.

Where and what type of garbage you should dispose of varies slightly depending on the town (city, ward, town, village) you live in.
Please know the rules of the town and divide accordingly.
To find out how to sort your garbage, check out the Garbage Calendar. If you still don't know what to do, ask someone at your company or the government office.

Be careful

・When putting out trash, put it out on the morning of the day the trash truck arrives.
・If you dispose garbage in a place other than the designated area, the trash will not be taken.
・In some ereas, you have to go to the store with a designated garbage bag and throw away your trash.

How to separate the garbage.

As the rules differ from the rules of the city you live in, please separate your garbage according to the rules of the city you live in.

Burnable garbage (burnable garbage)

Mainly refers to garbage that can be disposed of at factories.

●Garbage from the kitchen
●Waste paper
●Shell shell
●Rubber/leather products
●Shoes
●Plastic containers that get dirty even when exposed to water (such as sauce bags that come with lunch boxes at the store)
●Other flammable items

*Do not throw away oil in the kitchen after cooking.
If it's just a little bit, wipe it off with tissue paper and dispose of it in the combustible garbage.
*The plastic container the meat was in can be taken out at some supermarkets.
(Be sure to let it cool before disposing of it.)

Non-burnable garbage (non-burnable garbage)

This mainly refers to garbage that cannot be disposed of in factories.
Large items or items that can be recycled should be disposed of as separate garbage rather than as non-burnable garbage.

●Metal cooking utensils (pots, kettles, frying pans, etc.)
●Dish
●Broken cups, glasses, and bottles
●Umbrella
●Open bottles for cosmetics, dressings, edible oil, etc.
●Battery
●Small electrical appliances
●Other non-flammable items

Bottles, cans, plastic bottles

Bottles, cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, books, plastic containers, cardboard, etc.
It will also be something that can be recycled.

[Bottles] Glass bottles for drinks, food, and seasonings
[Can] Aluminum cans and steel cans for drinks and food
[PET bottles] PET bottles for drinks and seasonings (only those with the PET mark)

*Peel off the cap and label and empty the inside.
*Please dispose of plastic lids as combustible garbage and metal lids as non-burnable garbage.
*Please dispose of open bottles containing cosmetics, dressings, cooking oil, etc. as non-burnable garbage.

Oversized trash

Mainly refers to large furniture and large electrical appliances.

●Furniture (tables, chairs)
●Futon/Blanket
●Large plastic products
●Carpet
●Bicycle etc.

Depending on the city, recycling may cost money.

recyclable garbage

It mainly refers to paper (used paper) and clothes (used clothing) that can be recycled.
[Used paper] Paper such as newspapers, magazines, paper, milk cartons, etc.
[Used clothes] Clothes that can still be worn

*Please dispose of dirty paper and clothes as burnable garbage.
*Milk cartons are also available at some supermarkets.
(Be sure to let it cool before disposing of it.)

Garbage with plastic mark (resource plastic)

In some cities, items marked with the "Plastic Mark" must be disposed of separately for recycling.

The Plastic Mark refers to the plastic containers and packaging used to hold or wrap products, and it has been decided that recyclable plastic products must bear the Plastic Mark.

How to divide plastic marks

Just because something has a plastic mark on it doesn't mean it should be disposed of in the trash on Plastic Day.
Look at the diagram below to see how it works.

The wrong way to throw away garbage (it's a crime!)

It is a crime to dispose of garbage anywhere other than in designated areas.
It's also no good to throw away juice cans, plastic bottles, and stubbed cigarettes on the road!

It may also be a crime to take home discarded garbage.
Don't take it home just because it can still be used.
